Here are 5 not so obvious tips for planning a successful business, networking, social, public, charity, or promotional event.
- Date
Select a date that is minimum 30 days in advance. Next check the local calendar to make sure your date does not conflict with other events in your industry audience that split the pool of those likely to attend
- Promo
Start minimum 30 prior. Social media is important, but NOT enough. Email, Text, Phone, Snail Mail will ensure your event permeates the marketing noise that all are exposed to.
- Advocates
One person screaming, “Come to my event” becomes one note noise quickly and will cause your audience to quickly tune out. Invite those who share your passion for your event to promote the event in their own words and share Email and social media links.
- Flair
Offer something at your event that distinguishes your event from all others. Free food, drinks or a discount are standard. Look for something else – Entertainment, concert \ theater \ movie \ sporting tickets, a lesson, dinner with someone, a private tour…
There are many options, find something that connects with your audience that will make your event the one to attend.
- Fun
Whatever you do, make your event fun, flattering and engaging. When planning your event, consider who is coming, your motivation may be to sell, but if your event is fun, the sales will naturally follow.
